Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker and syndicated columnist. She is also an TV personality, author and author. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the company. Corcoran was among the original Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. Since February of 2020, she has made 53 deals with the show, with the most significant being a $350,000 investment to purchase 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was second child in a family of 10 kids, and was raised in Edgewater. Florence was her mother, who was a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved between jobs throughout Corcoran's childhood. At times, her family relied upon deliveries of food for free from a local grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father as an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with condescension and disrespect, especially when he had been drinking. Corcoran was a struggling pupil throughout her schooling. Later, she discovered she was dyslexic. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending an Catholic primary school. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a degree in English after not completing several classes in her first year.
